About Shimi

I like to craft things out of parts, play in the ocean, read great novels, and find new music. My ideal night is relaxing and exchanging stories with family and friends. I help coach my sister and her fellow athletes in the Special Olympics of Hawaii Mighty Ducks Track and Field Team, a rewarding experience where I learn to be patient and speak effectively without yelling. I’m an on-again, off-again athlete: one of these days, I hope to paddle my fifth Ka‘iwi Channel crossing and run my third marathon, but the stars will have to align for that to happen. Or maybe I just need to get off my couch and stop binging on Netflix. My life is busy and fulfilling, and that’s exactly how I like it.
